Romac Series 7 Fabrication Package

Displaying tube as HSS

Last update: August 18, 2005

The following applies to the these applications:

Production Control - version 7.0.44 and later

Inventory Control - version 7.0.29 and later

Purchase Orders - version 7.0.24 and later

Estimating - version 7.0.9 and later

Optionally, square and rectangular steel tube can be displayed using TS or HSS as the shape.  Previously, the TS shape was the only option available for displaying tube in the Romac applications.

To change the shape designation for steel tube, use the Maintenance | Set Configuration | Miscellaneous | System Settings menu selection.  Changing this setting will affect all Romac Series 7 Fabrication Package programs.  The change will affect all current data.  You can switch between the TS and HSS shape at any time.

 Example displays are:

 Square and rectangular tube

            TS setting displays as: TS 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1/4

            HSS setting displays as: HSS 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1/4

 Round tube (with fractional dimensions)

TS setting displays as: 4 O.D. x 1/4 Wall Tube

HSS setting display as: HSS 4 x 1/4

 Round tube (with decimal dimensions)

TS setting displays as: HSS 4.000 x .250

HSS setting displays as: HSS 4.00 x .250

When importing KISS or BIF data files, if the Tube Shape Setting is TS, all round tube will be imported with fractional dimensions.  If the Tube Shape Setting is HSS, round tube will be imported with decimal dimensions unless the imported description contains a fraction.
